More Than 3 Million Audit Reports Submitted on the Income Tax Department's Website

As of September 30, over 3 million audit reports (TAR) have been submitted on the Income Tax Department's online portal. The Income tax Department has expressed its appreciation for taxpayers and tax professionals who have complied with the submission deadlines. 

Those required to have their financial records audited were expected to submit their tax audit reports by September 30 of the relevant assessment year.

According to a statement, more than 3.075 million audit reports, including approximately 2.95 million Tax Audit Reports, were filed for the assessment year 2023-24 on the e-filing portal by the due date (September 30).

To assist taxpayers, the Income Tax Department conducted comprehensive outreach programs. A total of approximately 5.54 million outreach activities were conducted through emails, SMSs, social media, and informative messages on the Income Tax portal. 

The aim was to raise awareness among taxpayers about the importance of filing Tax Audit Reports and other audit forms by the deadline," the statement explained.

Additionally, various user-friendly instructional videos were made available on the Income Tax portal to offer guidance. These collective efforts have proven beneficial in assisting taxpayers and tax professionals in meeting the audit report submission deadline," the statement added.

The e-filing portal efficiently managed the influx of users, ensuring a smooth experience for taxpayers and tax professionals as they submitted their audit reports.

In the month of September 2023, the e-filing helpdesk team addressed around 236,000 queries from taxpayers. They provided proactive assistance to taxpayers and tax professionals throughout the filing process, aiding them in resolving any complexities that arose," the statement further noted.
