The income tax department has issued an advisory related to the Digital Signature Certificate (DSC). DSC is now recognized worldwide as a trusted and secure digital tool. It simplifies all your online tax filing tasks.
It offers various features to protect sensitive information and records in online income tax filing, ensuring a safe digital environment.
In accordance with the updated rules in the Information Technology Act of 2000, the income tax department now requires individuals/professionals with an annual income of 25 lakhs or more, and businesses or corporate firms with a turnover of 1 crore or more, to file their Income Tax Returns (ITR) electronically.
When you file your tax return online, it is important to use a Class 3 Digital Signature Certificate. This certificate adds extra security to protect your personal information from online scams or data breaches.
It also ensures that the information you send during the online tax filing process is genuine and hasn't been tampered with.
The advisory Explains the following important points:
1. Make sure to check the expiration date of your Digital Signature Certificate (DSC).
2. Before registering a new valid DSC, be sure to de-register the old one.
3. If you encounter the 'something went wrong' error, install the latest version of the emBridge application.
4. Confirm that your DSC is connected to the PAN (Permanent Account Number) of the Principal contact, who should be registered in the 'My Profile' section of the e-filing portal.
5. Please follow these steps: Uninstall the existing emBridge application → Install the latest version using this link:
https://embridge.emudhra.com → Delete the existing certificate → Import the certificate again in the epass token tool → Retry the process.
